Jenkyns Collection: Appendix B - Banister genealogy

John Jenkyns (1753-1824) married Jane Banister (daughter of James Banister), and through this connection the Jenkyns Papers include considerable material related to the Banister family's affairs and estates in the 18th century. The essentials of the Banister descent are as follows:

Jasper Banister (living in 1669), gent.; he had issue including Jasper, below.

Jasper Banister; he married (ca 1669), Mary, daughter of James Bisse, clothier, of Shepton Mallet, by whom he had issue including James, below.

James Banister (d.1734), apothecary, of Bristol; he married (ca 1695) Edith Rogers (spinster of Pilton, Somerset), by whom he had issue including James, below.

James Banister, merchant, of Bristol; he married (ca 1748) Anne Randolph, daughter of Herbert Randolph Esq, deceased, of the Cathedral precincts Canterbury, by whom he had issue including Jane (who married John Jenkyns: see Appendix A) and John (Rector of Iddesleigh, died 1822).
