List of Blundell Scholars

There are minor discrepancies between the School Honours Board and the Balliol Register, but the following appears to be a complete list of Blundell Scholars. Please note, however, that this list does not purport to be an exhaustive roll of Balliol Blundellians, i.e. of all those who have come to Balliol from Blundell's School; the list has only to do with those who came on the Blundell Foundation. The Blundell scheme sowed the seed of family and regional connections, which from the earliest days drew students to the College from the School and Tiverton area, irrespective of the Blundell Scholarships. The trail from Tiverton to Broad Street Oxford is still happily being followed, but privileged access is neither sought or offered any more. There are some fifty Balliol Blundellians alive today, including at least three women, the College and the School both having reformed themselves in that respect since the demise of the Scholarships on the abolition of closed entrance awards.
